What is Poaching?

Poaching is the illegal trafficking and or killing of flora anad fauna. Sometimes animal or plant parts are sold as trophies or “folk medicines” and sometimes they are sold as pets or houseplants.

Why does it happen?

It has been done for a number of reasons, including claiming land for human use, but recently, more-so the desire for rare animal products such as ivory, fur, organs, skin, bones, or teeth.

Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth, with their characteristic long noses, or trunks; large, floppy ears; and wide, thick legs, there is no other animal with a similar physique. For hundreds of years this beautiful animal has been in one way or another so closely associated with humans (much like a dog in fact) that one wonders why we consistantly seek to destroy it
